The purpose of this meeting is to present the final interim report of the ongoing GSP Mid-term Evaluation, receive feedback and exchange views on issues relevant for the evaluation. The Interim Report summarizes progress made in the evaluation since the first Civil Society Dialogue on the Inception Report held on 19 January 2017, with key preliminary findings of the research, analysis and stakeholder consultation. The report is available on the DG Trade GSP website.

To support its evaluation of Regulation (EU) No. 978/2012, the Directorate General for Trade of the European Commission mandated the Mid-Term Evaluation of the GSP. The goal of the study is to assess the current scheme’s effectiveness, efficiency, coherence and relevance, and to formulate conclusions and recommendations based on this analysis. The Mid-Term Evaluation will consider the trade, economic, social, environmental and human rights impacts of the GSP in all beneficiary countries and the EU. The results of the study, performed by Development Solutions Europe Ltd, will feed into a Commission Report to the European Parliament and the Council.
