In June 2011 a Civil Society Dialogue meeting was held to inform stakeholders of the developments regarding EU-China relations on investment and the consideration of a possible investment agreement. Mid 2011 the European Commission held a public consultation to gather views from stakeholders regarding the future EU-China investment relationship. Overall there was strong support for an EU level initiative that could help facilitate investing in China and would help improve legal certainty for European investors. A large majority of respondents expressed a preference for a single EU investment agreement replacing the existing 25 bilateral investment agreements.

The purpose of this meeting is to exchange views with civil society stakeholders on the preliminary results of the impact assessment and provide an update on the current state of play.
