The EU and Chile are currently negotiating to modernize the EU-Chile Association Agreement, including the trade pillar. Following the adoption of the negotiating directives on 13 November, the negotiations were launched in Brussels on 16 November 2017 at which occasion both parties expressed strong commitment to achieving an ambitious, comprehensive and progressive agreement. After the first round of negotiations in Santiago de Chile on 15 to19 January 2018, a second substantial round of negotiations took place in Brussels on 28 May to1 June 2018.


In line with its practice, the Commission has hired an independent consultant for carrying out a Sustainability Impact Assessment of the trade part to provide inputs to the EU negotiators. BKP Development Research has been selected for this study.


The purpose of this meeting is to present and discuss with civil society the draft inception report of the study.
