Trade news – Visit of Commissioner Malmström to Kuala Lumpur (25-26 April 2015)

On 25 and 26 April 2015, EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström will travel to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) to attend the annual ASEAN Economic Ministers (AEM) – EU Trade Commissioner Consultations.

She will discuss with the ASEAN Ministers how to strengthen the EU-ASEAN trade and investment relations and exchange views on global issues, including on how to enhance the partnership between the EU and ASEAN in the WTO and other multilateral fora. As part of her ASEAN programme, she will also meet members of the EU-ASEAN Business Council, composed of representatives of European Chambers of Commerce in the region and corporate members.

The Chair of ASEAN in 2015 is Malaysia, and the Consultations will be hosted by the Malaysian Trade Minister Mustapa Mohamed.

The Commissioner will also have individual meetings with Trade Ministers of ASEAN countries, among them Indonesia and Vietnam.

In addition, the Commissioner will attend an EU-Malaysia Business Event, where she will deliver a speech and exchange views on priorities with EU and Malaysian business representatives, local representatives of EU Member States as well as representatives from the Malaysian Ministry for Trade and Industry and the Investment Development Agency.
