Speech on TTIP to European Parliament: Jobs, growth, values, democracy

Commissioner Malmström this morning addressed the European Parliament's plenary in Strasbourg, opening a debate on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership. She argued that TTIP would benefit Europe economically and strategically and pointed out the various ways the Commission has taken on board public concern on issues like transparency, public services, regulatory cooperation and investment protection. She welcomed the prospect of a parliamentary resolution on the negotiations, which would help strengthen Europe's hand.
