Commissioner Malmström outlines EU trade agenda to Liberal International

EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström delivered the Isaiah Berlin Lecture at an event held by the Liberal International in New York.

She outlined the enormous economic potential of open markets for the European Union. But she also noted that free trade was not an absolute priority and needed to be balanced against other goals high standards of regulation, the economic development of poorer countries and principles like human rights, labour rights and environmental protection.
