Conference on the EU-South Korea Free Trade Agreement
On 27 October 2011, the Commission hosted a high-level conference on the implementation of the EU-South Korea Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The aim was to raise awareness among the economic operators of the benefits of this FTA, and to explain how the European Commission intends to implement its provisions, notably regarding non-tariff barriers. The conference brought together representatives from the EU economic operators, the Commission services, the European Parliament and Member State authorities.
Key issues discussed
The conference started with a general presentation of the EU-South Korea FTA and its implementation measures. The presentation was followed by several different sectoral work shops (dealing with specific economic sector related issues) and the presentation of a new brochure for stakeholders about the EU-South Korea FTA.
