Agriculture and food sector in the Southern African Development Community in focus at EU seminar in South Africa

On 16-17 October 2012 the European Commission organised a seminar in Stellenbosch, South Africa, on the importance of the EU’s Economic Partnership Agreement for the agriculture and food sector in the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

The seminar allowed more than 100 representatives from the agro-food sector in Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland, and South Africa to meet with met EU officials and experts in the agro-food field, to discuss important issues such as standards, geographical Indications, and agro-processing methods. The objective of the seminar was to help to foster the process aimed at concluding an Economic Partnership Agreement with the Southern African Development Community region.
