Launch Event on new Trade and Business Opportunities in Jordan

This page describes past events and is no longer updated.

The European Commission and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply of Jordan are organising an event on new trade and investment opportunities resulting from the recent decision to relax the rules of origin applicable to EU-Jordan bilateral trade.

52 product sectors now benefit from better access to the EU market, including:

  • Textile & garments products
  • Engineering & electrical products (electrical and home appliances)
  • Chemical products
  • Plastic products
  • Furniture & wooden products

The aim of the event is to explain the new rules of origin scheme and to explore the opportunities for business and investment arising from the simplified rules. This initiative intends to support the Jordanian economy by mitigating the effects of the Syrian refugee crisis by creating additional job opportunities for both Jordanians and Syrian refugees.

The event will bring together high profile representatives of the EU and Jordanian government. There will also be an interactive panel discussion with representatives of the EU and Jordanian business.
