Webinar on CETA and gender equity

On 1 January 2018, the European Union, UN Women and ILO kicked off the three-year programme Promoting economic empowerment of women at work through responsible business conduct – G7 countries, or the WE EMPOWER Programme.

The team behind the programme will host a webinar on Tuesday, 4 December to highlight success stories and best practices for women in business and women-owned business under CETA.

The WE EMPOWER programme aims to support sustainable, inclusive and equitable economic growth by focusing on women’s economic empowerment in the changing world of work in the public and private sectors of the G7 countries.

The European Union (EU) - Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) is a progressive trade agreement that upholds and promotes shared values of the European Union and Canada. This landmark agreement was signed on October 30, 2016 and entered into force provisionally on September 21, 2017.

Canada and the EU subsequently have agreed on a joint recommendation on Trade and Gender.
