Rules of origin in the revised Pan-Euro-Mediterranean Convention

We are currently working in updating the content of this page.

Two sets of alternative rules of origin apply in the EU-Switzerland Free Trade Agreement:

  1. The rules of origin of the Regional Convention on pan-Euro-Mediterranean preferential rules of origin (PEM Convention). The PEM Convention was agreed in 2011 in view of establishing common rules of origin and cumulation among 25 PEM Contracting Parties (see The list of the PEM Contracting Parties) and the EU to facilitate trade and integrate the supply chains within the zone.
  2. The revised rules of origin of the PEM Convention
    • These are simplified and modernised rules of origin compared to those included in the PEM Convention.
    • More background information on the revision process is available here.
