New free trade agreement signed between the EU and New Zealand
The EU and New Zealand signed in July 2023 their free trade agreement (FTA) which provides interesting new opportunities for import and export operations between both parties by, among others:
- Eliminating all tariffs on EU exports to New Zealand;
- Establishing a dedicated chapter on small and medium enterprises to promote their exports;
- Simplifying compliance requirements and procedures to allow for quicker flow of goods.
The text has been transmitted to the European Parliament for consent. After this, the Council can adopt the Decision on conclusion, and once New Zealand notifies that it has also completed its ratification procedure, the agreement will enter into force.
