Trade in action: Trade agreement reinforces relations with South Korea

Since 2011 the exports from Saxony to South Korea have grown by more than 50 percent. The trade agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Korea is a strong, reliable, and comprehensive foundation.

Higher exports mean more production and more jobs for German company Optiplan, based in Oelsnitz, Saxony. The fibre-reinforced plastics manufacturer has established a more competitive presence in South Korea and seen increased economic activity – all thanks to the EU trade agreement and the benefits that come with it, such as simplified shipping procedures and the elimination of customs duties. Watch the video to see how you too can start benefiting from EU trade agreements.

The increase of our exports resulting from our more competitive market presence abroad is a key effect of the trade agreement. This leads to increased economic activity illustrated by more exports and also higher demand for our products abroad. This has led to an increase in our production here in Oelsnitz and thus helped us to secure jobs in Germany.
